Submission Guidelines

Overview

The journal publishes original academic articles and book reviews. Works accepted for publication are under the Creative Commons copyleft agreement (more information below). Works should be original and not be under consideration elsewhere. Authors should bear in mind that they are writing for an international audience and use non-discriminatory language.

How to Submit an Article

Please follow these steps to submit an article for consideration by our editors.

  1. Go to http://ineducation.ca in your web browser.
  2. Near the bottom of the page, you will see the text, "Create A New Account". Please click on this phrase.
  3. Fill in the appropriate fields. "Username", "E-mail Address", "Full Name", and "Organization" are required. You can edit this information at a later time. However, it is recomended that this information is accurate. "Biography" information will be needed if your article is accepted.
  4. Complete the CAPTCHA, mathematical question. This is to help determine that you are indeed human and not a computer program.
  5. Once submitted, you will receive an email message to the address you supplied. This may take a few minutes, but it will provide you with a temporary password. You may change the password once logged-in.
  6. Login to ineducation.ca using your username and supplied password. Once you are logged-in successfully, click on "Create content" on the right-side menu. Then click "Full Article", either in the body of the page, or again, in the right-side menu (under "Create content").
  7. You will now be on a page titled "Create Full Article". Please include a title of your article (you can change this later), choose the article type (most likely "articles"), and skip the "body" portion altogether. To submit your article, click "Choose File" under "Article File". This will allow you to search your computer for the file (.doc, .docx, .pdf, .odf). Choose the file, then click "Upload". Now, be sure to click "Save" on this page.
  8. You are now done the submission process. However, it is highly recommended that you notify the editor of your submission. A brief email with your context and notification that you have uploaded an article is sufficient. Please send this email message to editor@ineducation.ca.

Guidelines for Authors and Reviewers

The following questions are asked of reviewers when reviewing articles.

  1. The research is grounded in an appropriate theoretical base.
  2. Design and methods support the focus of the research reported.
  3. The article is presented in a cohesive, logical manner, consistent with the stated purpose.
  4. Literature cited or reviewed demonstrates a clear relationship between the problem and the field of study.
  5. The work is well written, grammatically and technically, and follows the required format.
  6. The work engages with and continues the conversation in the field of research in thoughtful and innovative ways.
  7. Is the article acceptable for publication?

Technical Requirements

Length: Manuscripts, including references, tables, charts, & media, should range between 2500-5000 words. We encourage articles that leverage digital forms of expression and dissemination. When submitting articles authors should add a statement confirming that the text is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

Style: For writing and editorial style, follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2009, 6th ed.). Articles are to be double-spaced throughout, including the abstract, quotations, and references and prepared in U.S. Letter (8 ½ X 11 inch) format with a 1 inch margin all around. The title of the article should appear on the first page, however, no reference to the author(s) should appear anywhere on the manuscript except the cover page.

Cover Page (for review purposes): Include title of manuscript, date of submission, author(s')’s name, title, mailing address, phone number, and email address. Please provide a brief biographical sketch and acknowledge if the article was presented as a conference paper or if it reports a funded research project.

Abstract: It is essential to provide a 50-150 word abstract on a separate page that describes the essence of your manuscript. Software Format: Submit in Word (.doc), Portable Document Format (.pdf) or Open Document Format (.odf). Other media welcome through consultation.
