Abstract 

An introduction to our Autumn 2011 theme issue: Indigenous education

This last issue of in education for 2011 is indeed special: It had its genesis in a 2010 Montreal meeting involving a number of researchers deeply committed to issues pertaining to Indigenous education. This informal gathering occurred at the annual meeting of the Canadian Association for the Study of Indigenous Education (CASIE), held in conjunction with the CSSE at Concordia University.

Editorial

Spring has finally arrived on the prairie and with it the new issue of in education.  I had the pleasure of reading through this collection of works over a very long, snow-filled winter.  The readings took my thoughts to other places, enabling me to escape the winter, if only in my mind.

Abstract 

An introduction to our May, 2010 issue of in education, a peer-reviewed, open access journal. This is also Part II of a two-part series focusing on Technology & Social Media. The previous issue (Part I) can be found here.

As the current guest editor of this journal, I am delighted to announce the second issue of our two-part series that focuses on Technology & Social Media in education. This issue features nine full articles and a book review, and our authors represent Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. In this editorial, I briefly outline the contents of these articles; essays that I hope readers find insightful, informative, and pleasing to read.

Welcome to the first issue of in education, an open access journal published by the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. Although this is the premiere issue of in education, the Journal's previous incarnations have proven a long history of exploring educational issues and concerns.
